Meet your instructor.
Brian Knox has been teaching artists to draw heads and figures for over 10 years. He started teaching at Watt’s Atelier and discovered that his passion for teaching art would become the focus of his art career. He enjoys the challenge of finding ways to take incredibly complex concepts within figure and head drawing and breaking them down and making them easy to understand. Brian is dedicated to helping students succeed in their art by learning foundational skills. When he isn’t drawing, Brian enjoys going for walks and watching videos of factory processes with Olivia. He does not like onions in his burritos, but he enjoys ice cream and pizza more than almost anything else.

    How does class this work?
Mentorship w/ Brian is a 5-week class focused on providing students with feedback on their work. Each week students submit one drawing to be included in the weekly critique video. Watch the video at the top of this page to see sample draw-over critiques.
When does this class start? + Weekly submission deadlines.
This class starts Feb. 13, 2025. The final week of class is Mar. 13, 2025. Each week students must submit one drawing to be included in the weekly critique video. The submission deadlines are: Week 1 - Feb. 13 Week 2 - Feb. 20 Week 3 - Feb. 27 Week 4 - Mar. 6 Week 5 - Mar. 13
    What can be submitted?
While this class is intended for students who are working through our drawing programs, enrollment is open to anyone who would like feedback on their drawings. I specialize in teaching head and figure drawing so that's what most students submit but submissions don't have to be limited to head and figure drawing. You must submit any reference images that you used along with your drawing. This is important because it ensures that the student and instructor are working toward a common goal. Purely invented drawings are okay to submit but make sure to specify when that is the case. Drawings must comply with our Discord server rules, i.e. artistic nudity is okay but no pornographic images or excessive violence.
    What is Mentorship With Brian?
Mentorship With Brian is similar to our Gold-level 5-week classes but it is critiques only! There are no weekly demos. This is a 5-week draw-over critique class.

Students submit one drawing to be critiqued each week for 5 weeks and will receive detailed draw-over critiques in return.

    Weekly submmission deadlines:

    Week 1 - Feb. 13
    Week 2 - Feb. 20
    Week 3 - Feb. 27
    Week 4 - Mar. 6
    Week 5 - Mar. 13

Students must submit any reference images they used along with their drawing. This helps to ensure that the student and instructor are working toward a common goal. It is okay to submit drawings that are purely invented but make sure to mention that in the comments and questions you send along with the drawing.
