20 Minute Heads: Structure

Master the beginning stages of head drawing. Watch three 20 minute poses each week.
In this class, you will learn:
- Placing the head on the page with accurate measurements
- The big shape of the head
- Finding the centerline and thirds
- Reilly rythms
- Placement of facial features
- Shadow mapping
- Working quickly and efficiently
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
In this class, we will focus on the beginning phase of the head drawing. In this phase, you will set your drawing up for success by establishing the big shape of the head, the perspective and tilt of the pose, and placement of facial features. It is important to master this phase before layering on more detail and rendering.
Each week, Brian will demonstrate several 20 minute head drawings. He will emphasize proportional measurements and structure, then work up to shadow mapping. In the final weeks, he will demonstrate how to skip steps and get more done in 20 minutes. These techniques will be useful to artists who wish to work efficiently in careers such as illustration, visual development, or story boarding.
